The best Linear integrations for customer support workflows

·6 min readLinearIntegrations

Linear connects to a long list of tools, but only a handful of them matter if what you're trying to do is run customer support. This isn't a directory of everything Linear integrates with, it's a shorter list scoped to one job: getting a conversation, a report, or an error in front of engineering as a real issue, with as little manual retyping as possible.

Slack

Through Linear Asks, a Slack message becomes a Linear issue via an emoji reaction, a slash command, an @Linear Asks mention, or automatically if a channel is configured that way, and the reply thread stays synced between Slack and the issue in both directions. It requires a Business or Enterprise Linear plan. It's built for requests from people inside your company, not from paying customers, see Linear Asks, explained for the full picture of what it covers and where it stops.

Intercom, Zendesk, and Front

These three connect on the Customer Requests side: a conversation in any of them can create or link a request to an existing Linear issue, and Linear attributes that request back to the customer who raised it, building a record of who's asking for what. Creating requests automatically from any of the three requires a Business plan or above; adding a request by hand works on any plan.

Sentry

Sentry turns a caught error or exception into a Linear issue automatically, and that issue lands in the reporting team's Triage queue alongside issues from other sources, ready for someone to accept, route, or decline. It's the most direct of the group: no conversation to interpret, just a stack trace turned straight into a tracked issue.

GitHub

GitHub links commits, branches, and pull requests back to the Linear issue they address, so merging the fix can move the issue's status automatically instead of someone updating it by hand. For a support-adjacent workflow, this is the last link in the chain: the same issue a ticket or an error created can flow through review and land as "shipped" without anyone touching Linear directly.

Ji4

Ji4 turns a customer's email into a Linear issue in one keystroke, and syncs a clean, customer-facing status back automatically as engineering moves that issue, the same shape of workflow as Sentry's error-to-issue or GitHub's issue-to-fix linkage, but for the conversation itself rather than an error or a code change. See the full Linear integration for how the two-way sync works end to end.
